I like the honest words in the poem. I like the strong statements.
"The will of God
or the will of
the molecule,
who the f**k knows?"
I believe we are responsible for the good and bad in a life. Thank you for a excellent poem.

Very clever, especially in the light of reading Teri's comment - I don't think I'd have picked it unaided! There is so much packed in here, very dense with layers of meaning. Joy to read.
And now, having posted the first comment, I see "Syllables" to my right...and being anal retentive, I came back and counted the syllables. Yep...there are fifty-five.
Maybe the idea of failing a test is still possible?
I got stuck on the title and its significance to the poem. It's not fifty-five words, and I could find no other "logic" to explain it. Then I got stuck on the idea of a "Challenger event"...and all that THAT could mean. Then it occurred to me that fifty-five might be a failing grade - "the difference/between renewal and rejection". Then I thought...did Challenger explode after fifty-five seconds?
Obviously, all this thinking made me have to go back and re-read for meaning unrelated to the title...except, of course, that titles are windows into the souls of poems, if you will. So, I have not managed to escape the title, and am therefore still groping for meaning
