Endless Musings of Illuminated Footsteps

Endless Musings of Illuminated Footsteps

A Poem by icelandicblue

The sun set gently behind
my golden clouded dreams.
I sat in the dark and waited,
the moonlight had abandoned me.

Darkness is a place of duality,
it is cool and smooth, a place to hide.
It is a cold box filled with fear
and brimming with suffering.

Life can be such a sucking chest wound,
first for triage, last for happy endings.
A fallacy it is, so counter intuitive and final;
it is after all more end than beginning.

I want it to end, but to what ends?
So I wrap myself up in endless musings
and hope perhaps that tonight the moonlight
will step out so I might follow her footsteps.

back at ya! for sure!
the third stanza is such a dandy here..."life can be such a sucking chest wound"

yes, it can...and those happy endings so elusive...the dark is a place to hide from life...but it's so cold and alone...

we need the moonlight...we need it.

Thank you so much jacob.
There were some gems in this piece which was captivating to read. Your second stanza was beautiful. The play on the word 'end' was phenomenal also. Loved this! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Rocans,
I appreciate your kind words.
You took the reader on a dark journey with a hopeful ending.
"I want it to end, but to what ends?

and hope perhaps that tonight the moonlight
will step out so I might follow her footsteps."
Sometime some hope is enough. Thank you my friend for sharing the excellent poetry.
