"

a poem about being bullied-- please share!

"
all alone.
walking home from school,
ambushed.
walking in the hallway,
stuffed into his locker.
taunted.
"puny"
                                                "insignificant"
                                                                                     "nobody"
you don't understand.
those words echo in his brain when he sleeps.
they haunt his nightmares.
let it stop.
just let it STOP!
enough!
will it ever end?

Wow, this piece is really touching to me. I think a lot of people can relate to the ideas you have here. What really got me was the second half of the poem starting with "taunted." It was a little chilling.

I think the first half is good too, but maybe you should cut some words out so that the first half is as raw as the second half and the end effect is stronger and hits harder.

Good job! :)

A very moving piece, perhaps from observations from life? You are able to stir up emotion in the reader. Very well done.

I read a book once, loosely based off the Columbine shootings. The format of the book is strange... it's not told in an actual storyline form, but in a number of small blurbs from different characters who knew the two shooters. Their friends, their family, classmates, bullies, teachers. One of the quotes from their guidance counselor said, "Put a little bit of salt on your skin, and it won't hurt. But that same small amount on an open wound will sting."

A lot of people don't realize what an amazing analogy that is for bullying, which is what she was referring to. Everyone gets picked on at some point in their life. Fat kids are too fat, skinny kids are too skinny. No one is perfect. But not all of those people realize how it feels to be bullied on a daily basis. Getting called a name once or twice may roll off your shoulders. But when you spend every day wondering why the other kids are calling you a f****t or a p***y or a s**t or a w***e adds up. Eventually that small amount of salt that didn't bother your skin is going to sear your open wound.

A beautiful, very relatable poem. Very well written. Thank you so much for sharing!

A sincere poem about harassment from a bully. This accurately portrays the effects lasting long after the deeds and words occur, with the terror of ongoing, dreaded encounters and the lost confusion as to how to end it.
