Friendship, Lost

Friendship, Lost

A Chapter by R. L. Hill
"

Not everyone can be a constant in your life.

"

Acidic bile

Coats my tongue

Raw pain

Chokes my throat

Wretched tears

Stain my cheeks

Fury

My hands are shaking

I scream

No sound

You won't listen anyways

Words

A jagged knife

Thrust into my heart

Your friendship......

What friendship?

A dynamic

No longer tolerated

A robot

That's all you are

Unreadable code

Did I ever truly know you?

I curse you

You ignore me

Silence is a better drug

Than venomous spittle

Of calculated phrases

Confusion

Scars my trust

Thrust, thrust, slice

Killing me with niceties

Cut out that chunk

Where you -

You used to be

Your words have a spontaneous feel to them which I really like. It's so true, not everyone can be a constant in your life, and when you realize that's the case with people you've grown used to having around, people you might have come to love, it's just a stab in the heart.

I felt every word of this having gone through something with my "friends" very recently. Your words truly cut to my core. It is the most horrible feeling in the world to realize your perception of someone you were close to is completely skewed. It feels like this poem. Amazing (albeit saddening) write.
