Magical Reality

Magical Reality

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

A sad reflection of my life.

"

Gushing passion colors the canvas

Giving breath to the voluptuous mermaid

Paints her soul in a cerulean sea

Glistening flaccid pearls surrounded her body

Golden sinuous hair crown the dazzling likeness

Each brush expands the splendor

Giving life to the sea urchins and hippocampus

A castle of promise painted with love

All the things have been created and shaped into life

A magical world under the sea

But I am sad; all creation eternally happy except me

In reality, I am the painter of this ingenious artwork.

Not bad. The last two lines give this a very poignant touch which is nice, but I'd be careful not to go overboard on the description in this - it's very rich, almost too rich in some places. I personally would have liked to have seen a little simpler language here and there, with the great imagery you have as bursts of color in the piece, instead of being its entire substance. Everything in moderation.

The inspiration for this piece is superb art - if it`s yours, Marc, you should be justly proud .....but I understand the paradox in your poem, I think. There are few - if any- creators of art that at any stage are completely satisfied with what they create. They always feel that there is something more they need to do. In many cases ,they consider they cannot improve on the beauty of the subject they are painting or writing about. P.

I like how you compare your country to a mermaid and how you bestow on her all the charm and magic. It shows your love and admiration to her. Well penned and created...:)

I missed my family and my country. I wrote this piece when I am thinking my country the Philippines. I missed the blue beaches and the beautiful people :). I hope you enjoy reading this piece.

I absolutely love the imagery and how well you made the idea of mermaid so creative and beautiful. That picture you included added to the beauty you wished to express with this poem.

At first the poem starts out as something to describe such beauty, but I was then caught when the poem ended into such a sad line that draws back all reality.

I must say that I absolutely love this poem.
