on a Monday morn,

breath still pungent with garlic

from supper

the night before . . .

listen to some American

professor

explaining-

the Sceptics and the Cynics,

the Eleatics and the Stoics . . .

with palaeolithic chalk, scratching away

against hard board,

as sleek young men and women

sit writing behind their desks,

 

 

on lined paper,

in journals -

 

 

some tapping away on laptops

too . . .
