Don't mourn

Don't mourn

A Poem by Mk.t.g

Don't mourn for me
forever in each passing day
the grief tortures
I am not the one you wanted me to be
I am but a broken dream

They say, all good things must end

A sad piece of brevity. Not all partnerships last for a variety of reasons. Here, it appears that someone did not live up to the expectations anticipated by the significant other.

Indeed, Chris! Thanks for reviewing!
Perhaps it’s our expectations that end… maybe some need to. It’s not always a bad thing. Only things not meant for us end… keeping dreaming ☺️

Thanks for reviewing, Susan!
and some dreams end earlier than others...I relate to this.
I wasn't what some might have hoped I would be...but I have a certain satisfaction in where I have ended up...
it's okay.
I really like your writing and the philosophy in it.

Indeed! When the heart is satisfied, there is peace. Thanks for your comment, Jacob!
It seems that you and I have been on the same journey and seen the same scenery. This short piece startled me and I had to check to see if I had not written it. I felt it all the way.

Thanks for such a kind comment, Soren!
Yes, all things must end. Sometimes, as we know, people's lives end suddenly and without warning. That's when it hits the hardest. And in those instances, even though time passes, we never forget. We never stop asking the universe why it had to happen.

Death is a final process that affects all who knew the deceased. Whether that dream is broken or not, it is for those remaining to decide.

Good poem.

Thanks for reviewing, Relic!
Shelley wrote, "Mourn not for Adonais" for John Keats... and any youthful beauty taken from life too soon is cause for mourning but the beauty of talent and wisdom found in one so young was also cause for great celebration. Celebrate the good in life and in each other...that's my hopeful mantra and motto. I enjoyed the read.

I don't normally say yes to friendship requests but I read this and instantly did. Extraordianrily well written.

Thanks for your comment, Ken Simm!
I like to think I'd say the same (and I probably would) but somewhere inside I also think I would want someone to mourn even though I ask them not to. I just wouldn't want them to mourn too long. And when I go they will say...also some bad things will end.

Indeed! Thanks for your comment, Willweb!
I’m not sure all things come to an end I think all things good or bad just pass with time. It’s that change we have to deal with. They say there is no grief that time cannot lessen and I believe that is true given all the time it needs,. A thought provoking write.

Indeed! With time all mourning and grief eventually go away. Thanks for reviewing, Andrew!
