Jesus

Jesus

A Poem by Penulis Kecil
"

This probably counts as sacrilege.

"

Religion sticks a little

in my throat

like a chicken bone,

splintered;

I choke and gag and cough

but I won't deny this.

Some of my friends believe

in a Saviour, a God,

a Christ-child,

a baby born in a manger;

some of my friends

know how to touch Jesus.

Stroke the back

arching up

feel the murmur

of his breath.

Religion tends to stick

in my throat

but I believe in Jesus

ever since

I met the faery lady;

and it probably counts

as sacrilege.

Some of my friends

believe in a saviour, a Christ;

some of my friends believe

Jesus

is the perfect moniker

for a feline.

Author's Note

Penulis Kecil
I know this one might get a few backs up, it was inspired by a contest that said to write a poem for Jesus. Since I'm not particularly religious, but I absolutely love my friend's use of this name, this is what sprang to mind.

As always, all polite/relevant reviews are welcome - including constructive critique, grammar and spelling corrections. Finally, thank you for taking the time to read/leave a review!
