Desert Slumber

Desert Slumber

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

Air swirls with cactus flower
Floating upon the warm wind
During the enchanting hour
As consciousness starts to bend

The vast expanse of the sky
Shines with iridescent orbs
Reaching immeasurably high
As subconscious absorbs

Sand stretches out its rough hands
Giving its alluring invite
Beguiling with its commands
As slumber begins to ignite

Dreams tango under the moon
Tempo steady flowing smooth
Rhythmically beating in time
Visions fluttering to sooth

Scents merge of desert and man
Creating lucid soaring dreams
Hazy silhouette stands close
Shadowed in celestial beams

Ya know, Dear PB? 🤔

There's nothing (poetically speaking) I enjoy more than a well-struck poem with even meter, smooth flowing syntax. spot-on rhyme, and vivid imagery painted with skillfully laid metaphor, touches of sensual embrace, and caresses from imaginative poetic hands.

There is something magical and mysterious about the desert that's always captivated my fantasies, and you certainly have captured mine … with your own. 😏
I've one on here you might find intriguing … it's titled simply, "One Desert Night":

Love your title and picture … both peaked my interest and lured me in.
Thank goodness they did, or I'd have missed this uniquely splendid piece!
Thank you, Dear Lady-Poet, for sharing You with Us! ⁓ Richard 🍃

I’m glad you could feel this poem step by step
The key to this one is it's simplicity. Wherever this came from I think almost anyone can identify with it, at least more than partially. That's very difficult to achieve. Well done.

This very descriptive lovely scene is enough to dream about and ultimately calm you into a deep slumber; three is something special about the desert that is mesmerizing, calming, dreamy state, stars so bright, they actually twinkle, no lights to obscure this magnificent landscape and your words flow so well. Best, Betty

I spend a lot of time in the desert. Middle East and seven years in Texas. The desert had special kind of beauty. It is quiet. I loved how you described the places and your thoughts. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

I went to Death Valley five times with the Army. Was so peaceful. The desert is cool dear friend.
A very soothing nature piece here. It would be interesting to record this one with soft music in the background. I think the calming images would ease the most jangled nerves.

well young lady! time to hitch the buggy and get trottin' ;)
I expect that you will be adventuring by horseback with pack mule behind
At nights spreading your bed roll near a mesquite tree, lying on your back, swatting the occasional tarantula, and looking up to count one hundred and fifty quadazupola goriutal gazillion stars in the huge wide sky
In the morning, over a campfire, you'll cook a can of beans before you hit the open trail again
And remember, there is someone else somewhere up there doing exactly the same thing back in your direction
