A Writers Pen

A Writers Pen

A Poem by Saumya

A writer is the one
who lives in this same world
but actually exists in a different one,
where he and his thoughts
only have existence..

His pen, heart, and brain
are the ones,
which are completely filled with
distinctive thoughts from others
in every situation..

When he writes,
his thoughts become so vigorous
that the ink itself cannot stop
to quote them on the paper...

He sees the world
differently from others,
and feels differently
in every condition..
His pen, as if clearly knows,
what all to quote,
that the reader actually notes...

The pen when in his hand
never feels bothered,
as it knows
that whatever he writes,
will definitely turn excellent..

The pen feels greatly proud,
every time it is used for
to be written,
because it knows
that one day, this
writer will appreciate my existence,
as i was the only one
to bring out his thoughts
clearly on the paper
in the form of the words,
of his stories or poems,
and made them known to everyone..
and therefore I, can never be forgotten...

If we writers are at a
soothing level today,
its all because of this mere pen,
who was, and forever will be with us,
to make our every single heartbeat,
thoughts, and emotions,
flow clearly on the paper,
and made known to everyone..

so I owe all my goodness to you
my dear pen,
and request all you dear writers
to do the same for your pen,
without whom,
you and your thoughts today
would be nothing,
like a river, pond , lake, ocean,
or even fountain,
without water's presence...

As it was the one,
who itself being lifeless,
made our thoughts lively
and helped us
made known to everyone...

so how can its existence
really be forgotten..!
as it is the one,
which actually deserves
to be loved and respected
by everyone..

And the actual gem,
behind a writer's existence..!

I find writing with pen more creative then computer or typewriter. There is some magic in it. I like your creations of scenery . What can happen when we start write. Your gratefulness for other writers and your self. Yes i love ending to be loved and respect for his or her creations. This what we all should deserve here. I hope one day this will be also truth.

This is an instant fave for me. As the poem states, I owe my original start in writing a to an ugly green mechanical pencil. I got it many years ago when I was around 11 and used it up until I was around 19, when it was lost. That pencil was durable. Where every other pen and pencil, mechanical or otherwise has broken down within months, that ugly green pencil lasted years. I bet if I found it right now and put some .5 mm lead into it, it would work just fine.

Thanks for making me feel emotional about my mechanical pencil. This piece is amazing.

I like this poem, the pen is really important.. I write a lot of poetry on the computer, but always have a notebook and paper on the go.. Helps make words alive. Good job! :)

Well Saumya, I think you bring up an interesting point. Do we as writers owe our existence to 'the pen'? This may not be true for all, but without 'the pen' where would we be? Many of us would be in pain, wanting to create something, to express in words that which we feel or imagine. The premise of your piece therefore is great, but the delivery with respect to personification not so much. Your grammar is getting much better but there are still somethings you can strengthen. Here are a few spots to work on.

"A writer is the one
who lives in this same world
but actually exists in a different one,"
~I understand what you are trying to say here, "A writer lives in one world but his/her mind exists in another" but when you say "lives in this same world" usually you should have already been speaking about an alternate world and so by saying this you would be illustrating that a writer lives in this current world and not that other one. The word "same" is unnecessary. When speaking about the world that we live in, all is needed is "this world" and it is understood by the reader.

"When he writes,
his thoughts become so vigorous
that the ink itself cannot stop
to quote them on the paper..."
~ In this passage again, I know what you are trying to say, "That a writer's thoughts are so powerful that the ink itself cannot be denied in being written onto paper." The issue I have with this part is the term "quote" which is usually a piece of writing or, part of a speech that someone copies to paper or, repeats to emphasize a point in another speech different from the original speech that the quote comes from. So then, you wouldn't 'quote' something to paper, rather 'pen' them or, 'write' them, or 'transcribe' or similarly 'commit' and probably many others.

"If we writers are at a
soothing level today,
its all because of this mere pen,
who was, and forever will be with us,
to make our every single heartbeat,
thoughts, and emotions,
flow clearly on the paper,
and made known to everyone.."
~Here you are giving thanks to the abilities that the pen allows us to showcase, but there are a couple things you could work on with regards to flow and clarity. One is the phrase, "flow clearly on the paper". If there was only one piece of paper that all writers wrote upon then this would be o.k. but we write on many pieces and types of paper so, instead of saying "on the paper" it is more appropriate to say "onto paper" because 'onto' doesn't signify any one particular paper, just that it will be put onto paper in general. The second thing is minor, and refers to the last line "and made known to everyone.." in this phrase it might be useful to add the word 'be' in front of 'made' because you are changing from one form to another, from thoughts and emotions into physical written words so, you are in essence bringing something into 'being' and 'everyone' will be 'made' to know of its being by its physical manifestation.

Good job altogether, I hope my pointers will help you further in your writing.
Peace.

i love the whole story line, its very true and every writer can relate to it, that's what makes this peace great.
Its amazing how us writers we just cant say how we feel sometimes we dont know how to say it or how to put it.
Then we grab a pen and try to write it down and the words all fall out right and we just cant stop writing and jolting down how we are feeling.
Sometimes its hard to tell people how we really feel by using our voice, that's why our pen is so amazing it helps us get our words out right.

Respecting the pen is important... literature is a journey of creative expression and experiences of life...we all have dreams, and writing is a great outlet for what fuels our souls...

It's my pleasure.. I enjoyed reading your words. :)
Nicely written :) I like some of the lines here, but I would suggest looking at the abrupt change to the first person here:
"The pen feels greatly proud,
every time it is used for
to be written,
because it knows
that one day, this
writer will appreciate my existence,
as i was the only one"
I think the sudden use of the first person distracted me.
And the line " at a soothing level " doesn't look like the perfect choice to me. Please don't take this criticism to heart. I love the message behind this poem :)

thank you soo much dear:)
A very interesting thought here. I like the focus on the tool (pen in this case) rather than the artist. Indeed, it forms the link between us writers, who live in our own imagined realms, and the rest of the world. I especially liked the lines where the story unfolds from the pen's point of view. That was a good touch. I also like the simplicity of the write. It has an innocence to it that is endearing.

A couple of words of constructive criticism: First, perhaps the poem is a couple of stanzas too long. Secondly, it could do with more imagery. That lends finesse to poetry.

But overall, I enjoyed it. Keep writing! :)
