But, being a teenager,

But, being a teenager,

A Poem by Sophie

One popular,

one not,

one 'ugly'

one 'hot.'

I'm the loser,

the one who doesn't fit in,

You're the Queen,

the one with too many friends.

You complain

about your boyfriend breaking up with you.

I don't

because I've never had a boyfriend to complain to.

Maybe you should try my life,

if yours is so bad,

walk a mile in my shoes,

see if you still feel sad.

My life isn't bad, I know

but being a teenager,

I don't really care, though.

I'll complain anyway,

wish life away,

because neither side is greener.

(even though you are meaner.)

But I still

wish you could feel

this pain, so real

What's it like being invincible?

Try being invisible.

I like to be the invisible one when I was young. Then my big mouth and too many opinions got me in trouble. I understand this poem. I believe we gain wisdom when we don't care about other folks opinions about us. Better to be friendless then to have liars and people we cannot truth as friends. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

From what i remember of being a teen, and we all remember, as it is so often talked of as the best years of your life, while feeling like the worst, nothing much changes. You get older and realise that fate has a way of levelling things out. A nd the most memorable people from that time in your life may come as a surprise to you too, It's never the prom queen, but the ones that mean more than you ever thought they could. Karma rocks :-)

Nice topic, good point of view. Common feel among everyone so I'm sure everyone can relate. Nice job Sophie, keep it up.

I really like the last stanza! Sometimes I feel this way, so I can relate to the poem. I think everyone has felt like this at some point. Like everyone else's life is going better than your own.
