Chapter 6

Test of fate

Later the night Higure and Izumi wake up to hear the villagers screaming get the witch

“Stay here I’ll make sure no one comes here.” Izumi says walking out the door, when he is gone Higure hears footsteps coming for out the back. She runs out the back and sees wolves looking around for something, as Higure looks back she can see fire coming from the village. Higure looks back at the wolves and sees and middle age women trying to find some shelter. Higure grabs her arm and looks at her eyes glowing with fear, she drags her into her house.

“Thank-you” says the woman, as Higure closes the windows

“Don’t worry I won’t let them take you,” she says trying to see Izumi. Then a wolf slams into the house and makes a large hole in the wall. Higure grabs the witch and runs out he back, but she is surround by wolves. Higure asks

“Do you know any spells that can help?”

“Yes, but it only works on one,” the witch replies

“Use it and escape,” Higure says, then there’s a large puff of smoke and the witch is gone. Some of the wolves take of the other arrest Higure.

In the Moring Higure is in jail and out the window the witch is just about to be burnt alive. Higure looks at her in hope that someone will help, no one save her Higure had to watch her be burnt alive and just as the witch dies she looks at Higure and says

“Why.”

Hours later the jail guard takes Higure to the village elders the chief starts to speak

“Higure, you helped a witch try and escape you realise you will have to face trail.”

“Yes sir, but can the trail be public?” Higure asks, the village elders are shocked public trails are only for murderers and witches.

“We will accept your request” says one of the elders. The guard takes Higure outside to the trail stands and yells for attention, in an hour or two there’s a big crowd Yuki has brought Izumi.

“Sora it’s in the crowd, maybe that’s a good thing” Higure says to herself.

“Let’s begin the trail” says one of the elders.

“Higure, you helped a witch try and escape, how do you pled” says the chief

“Guiltily” Higure replies. The entire crowd are watching her, Yuki is terrified and Izumi looks like he’s going to do run to the platform and carry Higure away.

“Can you tell me why you tried to rescue the witch, are you a witch.” The chief asks

“I’m not a witch and I did it because I don’t see witches as bad people.” Higure starts “if anything you are the bad people. I can understand if she killed people but she didn’t which means you leaders, elders and those who support killing of innocent people like that witch are truly monsters.” Some of the crowd start to throw rocks at Higure where as some agree with her and tackle the ones throwing rocks.

“Stop this now!” Izumi says walking up through the crowd. Everyone stops to listen, but some are still throwing rocks. “Stop this trail and let Higure go she’s coming with me to the castle” Izumi says walking to the platform. Everyone is watching him now “As future king stop this silly trail,” Izumi says turning back into a dragon, everyone in the town knows his is the king even Higure.
