I'm sitting with my friend at the Stray Cat Inn. The old Marine told me. Brave men seeking war, just fool's seeking and learning the taste of blood. After you kill and taste blood. You are forever lost in the folly of killing for forgotten wars and the deadly sins.
He told me. My war is over and I had killed for nations who have forgotten the reasons we fought. I have sinned my friend. I have drank the hard booze for 50 years, I befriended and lost kind women and I have done deadly violence. Can't erase or take back the deeds done. We are what we are.
He whispered to his whiskey glass. Men believe. War is the way to peace, biggest lie ever. Our leader's greatest sin. Send our young men and women to war for profit and oil. War is just the murder of the innocence.
totally true, we have become victims of powerful leaders who used us to their advantage, that is the reason why sustainable development is still a big question mark for whom it benefits. especially in my country where social class is the alpha and omega of the society. this writing is not only a wake up call for me but to continue the advocacy i started with my own little deeds to help my countrymen and hopefully in the end, it will be rewarded well. thanks for this wonderful piece my friend.

So true- war doesn’t bring any good- but true what’s done is done cannot change it- better left to rest otherwise you drive yourself insane- let it be -pray for peace and that the people in controls eyes ears hearts be opened- sad how the world is- more love needed more of God as well🌹

Thank you dear Kelly for reading and the kind words. I do appreciate.
the tragedy of the existence of evil in the hearts of humans leaps out at me through your story ...i can not help but think of the Viet Nam "police action" as that is the generation i live in ... the image of that old Marine in the Stray Cat Inn is so vivid to me ... and for some reason the name reminds me of a small restuarant in Boulder Co. back in the 60s called Magnolia's Thunder P***y" and all the breakfasts i ate there ;) ...ham and eggs i think for less than $2 ... the endings of that war and all the changes occurring in America were both profound and terrible ... profound because the majority spoke so clearly and with a unity that transcended all divisions ... and terrible because our brave young soldiers were not honored ... i was in the Navy and never fought in Viet Nam ... and i oppose war like anyone who thinks at all about it .. but i sure love and respect all our service people ... they are precious beyond words ... thank you for sharing this moment Coyote Man ... reading inspired me in many ways this morning
