It's About Love

Love lifts us higher
than the eagle that soars
and can take us to a place
we've never been before.

Like a sailor left drifting
on an open sea
in a boat with sails bracing
a salty breeze.

Though hearts can break
and tears may fall,
there's nothing better than loving,
no nothing at all.

This reminded me of the movie, "Love is a Many Splendid Thing", of which I cried at the end of. It is truly all we really have in this world, and it can move mountains. The sailor and the sea - now that's love!

Call me old, but I hear Joe Cocker in the beginning of this. Wasn't that a nice song, too!
But like your second stanza, love can be both liberating and have one feeling adrift and lost.

Yes! You are right about that song. I think I was also channeling a song by Jackie Wilson as well. I often include two eagles when I write a love poem because a poet friend of mine, Droc, wrote one for me in which he compared us to two eagles. So good of you to share your thoughts with me. I do appreciate it very much!
