Scent

I fall asleep clutching

The blanket they refuse to leave

Unclaimed

When they stay.

His scent hangs onto the fabric,

The only thing that reminds

Me before I sleep,

That he is real and was just here with me.

If I close my eyes,

Breath in his scent,

And imagine his arms around me,

Holding me in my safe place

And one true home,

I don't have the nightmares anymore.

Nightmares:

Waking up to find that none of this is real

I'm still alone and feeling unwanted.

But because of his

Scent,

I wake up happier and ready to smile and love.
