A Mirrored Image, Love Incarnate

A Mirrored Image, Love Incarnate

"

Two hypocrites bound to what they see...

"

A Mirrored Image, Love Incarnate

By: Ethan West

Fire awakens what hate could not

Forever lost in tattered creed

And beauty's soul in anger's rot

Is left one final, tender plea

I came upon her in brightest light

My heart was blank, my soul was cold

Struggling with bitter fight

Struggling with darkness bold

And in six words my heart felt rest

My mind as restless as a bee

My heart then put my mind to test

As I outstretched my hand to thee

But her mind is dark like mine

As if to bathe in irony

She sees herself in dark decline

But all there is is light to me

And so, alone, we share this fate

We are two beautiful things to be

Two souls divine, but full of hate

Two hypocrites bound to what they see

And the broken line that cleans our slate

But ah alas, I am the dark

Even though this, you say to me

That I am the light within your eyes

What a beautiful thing for us to see

And so, alone, we share this fate.

Amazing how single lines can affect people. Another well-done piece. I can rarely find fault in your work. Keep it up!

I absolutely love the first stanza. Such beautiful choice of words.
Your poetry needs to be read in schools. Seriously.

Hopefully people still appreciate poetry in the future. The love for writing is fading.

Well, there will always be at least some people who love it.
This is absolutely wonderful! Very descriptive. You also expressed your emotions very well. I felt as though I was walking along your path observing your yearning for such closeness and intimacy with this mysterious gal. You are a great poet!

Whay hadn't I ever heard of your poetry before Writers Cafe?!?! Dude, why aren't you famous???
*composes self* ahem... anyway, I loved the flow of this poem. It didn't seem forced or unnatural. Again, it was a beautiful piece with deeper meaning.
My favourite lines are:
"That I am the light within your eyes
What a beautiful thing for us to see"

I love the love emitted from this poem "And so, alone, we share this fate
We are two beautiful things to be
Two souls divine, but full of hate
Two hypocrites bound to what they see
And the broken line that cleans our slate"
A very powerful way to describe a relationship
Good job :)
