Sometimes

Sometimes

A Poem by Kayleen

When the fear gets the best of me

When the hate steals whats left of me

When silence is the enemy

I refuse to make a sound.

Sometimes.

When I cant stand to look at you

When all i want is pain for you

after everything you put me through

I look at you and smile

Sometimes.

When I let you near me

When you think you know me

I find I speak sincerely

To give credit to a lie

Sometimes...

This shows the best and worst side of human nature. The survival instinct where we will do anything to just keep moving forward, and the side of us that picks up the pieces and soldiers on. This is moving on so many different depths. I can envision this unreciprocated love you're describing and it makes me feel a connection with the girl. Your poems, whether I consider them good or bad, have managed to make me do this. You are a truly powerful writer, even in your weak moments.
It also shows the true nature of the human heart, that no matter what we always remember that love of ours. They can hurt us to where we feel like hiding ourselves in some corner of the world, but the memories and the feelings always remain. Well done, bravo!

Reads like a crisp song lyric. As such, I'd be inclined to extend the syllables in the third "verse" to keep that catchy percussiveness going.

Apart from that, the content is engaging in its sly ambiguity re relatedness, the strangeness of ever truly knowing another (or oneself, for that matter), and the disarming tendency to run counter to what one means (even when one knows what that is).

Enjoyable lines.

The things we tend to hide, may or may not speak more then our silence itself. you captured a meaningful message, that we conjure up in life, something we will all come to encounter. Amazing.

Keep writing, alwyas

This is a wonderful poem with great rhyme and flow. Using that one word after each stanza is brilliant. It shows that you are not always predictable. I really enjoyed reading this one. Keep writing!!!

This was very beautifully written. It was superb and filled with meaning. You captured the essence of the poem very well, marvolous.

This is an extremely well written poem. I love the use of titular "sometimes" thrice. The words have been chosen very well, and the subtlety with which the whole thing is said is truly superb.
Enjoyed it!

This is really nicely put together and intelligently delivered with surreptitious ironic humour. It says a lot more about the human character than the mere words might seem to indicate. Particularly the final verse. There's a lot to be said in favour of humour: many a true word spoken in jest.
Great poem.

An excellent poem, just like the others that I have read from you so far. If I had found this one a few weeks ago, I would definatley have wanted to include it in my poetry book. I'll be considering it for a future issue of Babel's Gate, though. (Maybe even the next one.)

This was quite interesting... so many conflicting emotions... darn the complexities of the human heart.
