Pain

Pain

A Chapter by Abeer Tarek

Pain.

"It's insane how emotional pain can be so immense that you'd physically feel it. I can feel my heart split open, I can feel the emptiness inside of my chest, I can feel my brain collapsing, I can feel my heart struggling to stay alive, I can feel pain in every fiber of my broken body, and I can feel my nerve impulses that are like electric jolts under my soft skin, I feel pain in every ounce of my fragile self. Pain has engulfed me long ago, I tried to get used to it thinking it would fade and my thoughts were correct. Pain fades. Pain vanishes. It might not seem like it but it will. People whom have caused you pain will eventually die from your heart, they will crumble and you'll be able to blow them away like ashes. It's just a matter of time, because time heals. Tears will be stitches to your torn up heart, every stitch will kill like a burning needle, but I promise you one day you'll wake up in the morning with dried tears on your cheek, and you will look in the mirror and see that darkness has controlled your eyes, it is not darkness of pain; that darkness will be strength."

Forgiveness is an act of the imagination. It dares you to imagine a better future, one that is based on the blessed possibility that your hurt will not be the final word on the matter. It challenges you to give up your destructive thoughts about the situation and to believe in the possibility of a better future. It builds confidence that you can survive the pain and grow from it.
