You and Me

You and Me

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

looking back is never easy

"

It’s too late to count your tears I noticed them but did not see.

You’ve poured my promises onto the floor

And stepped across them as you closed the door.

Now my tears pursue your steps

But to my dismay you do not look back.

I watch you now smile and sing

And wish to Heaven

There was still a you and Me.

it's hard, very hard... when one moves on and the other is still lingering in the memories, stuck inside a love that it can't be... lovely and very sad words my friend.

Thank you so much.
I get a idea for something and like writing from different perspectives.
I've had one or two of these experiences myself...leaves ya feeling like the day after a mule kicked ya in the gut... penned to near perfection :)

ouch..........my pleasure.:)
I think in the near and now you just don't notice.
Something happens, the alarm bells sound.
I think most of us look back in regret at times in our lives.

I agree, bo matter how astute we think we are sometimes we completely miss the obvious.

These lines Cherrie come across with regret. It appears he has moved on and you haven't. I am thinking of that old saying. "act in haste, repent at leisure. Somehow your lines made me think of them. I send all good wishes to you. Your lines moving to read.

Thank you Chris, I really wrote this from the males point ofview. .
One always seems to hurt more the other when a relationship ends. For some it's relief. The other may take years before they get over it. Such is life.

Yes, there comes a day when promises mean nothing
you and me,what kind of life would it be,if there were no you and me
