How did I miss this, Cherrie? For mothers, time must past pretty quickly at times, precious times from arms filled to arms empty .. sadness mixed with absolute pleasure. You've written this in such a way I feel as if each word or each phrase is yet another portion of passing time. And, then, dear friend, you close with those last four lines.. ...
Beautiful writing, fragile, sad but... memorable, Cherrie.

I'm glad you liked this one. It's one of those poems that spring up out of nowhere and you have to hurry to get it on paper.
And I could see my life and family in each line.

Strange how that happens, a gift from nowhere that comes before it arrives! Yes? zzz now..
I love the rhythm in this and the rhyme it lends itself to the circular feeling of the story of the cycle perfectly! all clever writing in this one. Us male bunny's only get to look from the outside in wonder of the cycle you mothers create which is sort of a hint as to who is truly the fairer sex is in the bunny's eyes

One day after I had my first grandchild my grandmother looked at me, and with a little suprise in her voice said, "you're a grandma," and it was an awe-ha moment as my mother, grandmother all three sat together.

so true .. no book can be written ... but most make it eh!? lovin' on ya Cherrie! :)
For some reason, this piece saddened me.
Maybe it's because grown children no longer seem like your kids; they've somehow quickly morphed into mere close acquaintances.
Eloquently written, Cherrie.

Cherrie, in those few short lines you took me back 25 years, seeing this unfold in my own family. Truly a gift to create such a scene with so few poetic words.

Seems like yesterday to me and for my grandkids it is just that.
