I Heard A Poem Today

I Heard A Poem Today

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

I heard a poem today.
It took my breath away.
Its canvas, neither paper or ink.
Nor words, a man would speak.
But carried upon the wind,
and its message made me weep.

I saw a masterpiece today.
Beholding its grace I could not turn away.
The artist was not from this place.
But God above stirred both heart and soul,
In gaping silence my joy did leap.

I love this poem, it made me think that every creative act, all our inspiration, comes from something bigger than us.

Yes it's that certain something that sticks with us till we try to copy it to paper.
Such a beautiful poem, Cherrie. God has made a masterpiece for us to see, feel, hear, embrace and enjoy. Your poem has done that so very nicely. If you think about it, man too is a masterpiece and look at how many varieties there are to enjoy and learn from. Yes...a very nice write indeed, Ms. Cherrie!

There are indeed greater poems and paintings "out there" in the realms of mother nature, than any man or woman could ever create (try as we may). A finely expressed poetic piece, Cherrie!

My pleasure!
Really good poem! Senses used to experience the all of our world. And you threw a sixth sense in there. Which might be spirit of self revelation in the sight of our makers. To have enough sense to be in awe of the beauty in nature and respect that enough to cry.

I think you meant gaping. Gapping is something you do to the distributor cap on your engine.

Words fail. But we sure do try hard don't we? Despite ... or in spite, of our technology.
