A sad day at the mall

    I walk through the endless maze of shops

 Seeing couples hand in hand, wanting to scream

    The longing for the touch of that special someone never stops

 The pain sets in and it all seems like a dream

  I sit at a bench and shed a tear

    The thought of having someone so close

   The pain is almost too much to bear

 It seems like all time has froze 

I stand up and start to walk

    But see someone who looks familiar wave to me

 I start walking about to talk 

    She was waving at her friend I couldn't see

I walk into a maze of books, looking for a distraction 

  There are tons, ranging from Dickens to Poe

 These books seem to be my only attraction

All the day was a waste, why do I stoop so low

I know this feeling, I really hate going to the mall, it's even worst when a friend brings their boyfriend or girlfriend, then you can't just escape, you have to walk with them and think about how lonely you are and how much they have.

This is a great poem, something I can relate too, great job!

Those people you see hand in hand aren't always so enviable. When their relationship spirals down into a horrible, drama filled breakup, you can just wave at me, and I'll come over and talk, and it'll be their turn to be lonely and jealous. :)

Malls can be hideous places. I go when I have to, but then I live so far away from the nearest town anyways. I like the rhyme here although, like me, sometimes, we need to work on the meter. The final stanza is great. I think you have written about something we can all relate to. Well done. Penny

Thank you so much Penny, it just sucks walking around the mall and seeing all these happy couples holding hands or kissing. Then what made my day even better is I got screamed at by one of the security officers, I didn't even do anything. Oh well, my life just keeps getting better and better lol.
