Why For Art Thou, Juliet...?

Why For Art Thou, Juliet...?

A Poem by Devons

Nothing inspires her like love
And nothing is what she writes
but in oh so many words
Nothing is what she's left with
After one more torrid affair
but she puts it into words
Then, having squeezed nothing dry
Like a cloth, she uses it again
repeating the process - in words
Different words, that is, of nothing
Conveying less, but thinking more
in 1-D, metaphorically: words
And nothing x12 poems later
She'll meet a new man once more
and he'll whisper 'sweet nothings'...
in words.

we all know these people (because it isn't just women who are so susceptible to the hedgemaze of words) .. they fall in love with the idea of love, never moving past the initial dipping of the toes. they get their satisfaction out of the chase, out of the glory of that initial glow. sad, because where i think the real love lies, where i think the real satisfaction comes in, is when you have moved past that heady narcotic stage, and into whether or not you can actually STAND the person once you've smelled their unbrushed morning breath. lol

Then, having squeezed nothing dry
Like a cloth, she uses it again
repeating the process - in words

that is a masterful stanza.. the image is dead on perfect. and i actually pictured the woman's actions in my mind..

I love the repeating of the words in this hon
Installs into the mind of the reader! A clever piece that is about art as well as the Juliet theme, an infusion that is really cool!
Great poem!

and so it goes on and on... yes, this is heartbreaking.
"Nothing is what she's left with
After one more torrid affair
but she puts it into words"
At least she still has the words...

i don't know what meaning of this you were getting at, but I like it alot. To me it shows there are many words to use to show love and more ways to put it down on paper. A very good peice, if I don't say so myself

I had to read this one twice to really understand it... well done. I love poems that truly make me think and I love this poem. Such a great way to express the recycled love and heartbreak poems that are out there. They're all just words and many of them don't seem to have that much feeling or meaning behind them. At first reading the 1-D and x12 parts felt weird but they really suit the poem and the flow. The dry and dull imagery that is her imagination is perfect... I especially adored "having squeezed nothing dry / Like a cloth" absolute wonderful wording. You are a great writer and this is a great satirical piece.
