Before all is painted white (Autumn)

Break out the winter woolies folks, she's a comin'

The fading light from wearied sun
silhouettes the gathered throng,
upon their terracotta perch
in silence, without song.

For they can feel the seasons change
the chill of autumns breath,
see flowers wilt, trees ablaze
such magnificence in death.

Then before all colour painted white,
before winters bell it chimes,
as one on wing they'll take their leave
and head to warmer climes.

i broke mine out the day I got back from vacation last week. BC 28 C ontario 18 c daytime, 5 overnight, and its only going to get worse. Thank god once Jan arrives wife and i will slip away to the warmth of Singapore for a month or so

The seasons are about to change once again. Winter draws to an end, and Spring is finally just around the corner, but a good poem like this is timeless.

This has been the year when days and months have been totally irrelevant.

it fascinates how the leaves fall to nourish and keep the roots warm while trees are sleeping, not dead, though some do die out. Fall and winter are magical as well, I like to enjoy them from inside, not keen on being cold but if you have the right stuff to keep you warm...its amazing have you been snow skiing? I used to go once upon a time in Winter park in Colorado, so much fun, but I have to agree with Chris, spring is still my fav. (And Colorado chili has squash in it????? ugh what's up with that?) I love hows this rhymes so beautifully, such a nice piece.
