My Calamity

My Calamity

A Poem by KWP

Like a freshly mustered typhoon,

you ravage my outer

in rapid fashion, disassembling my inner

with a force seizing all control.

I’d like to say you come in waves,

I could manage that.

But you don’t,

Like inhaling a long breath,

you whip the waters from the shores

and return as a tsunami of my own

misconceived emotion.

Your wave crushes me

I gasp,I fill myself with all of you.

While set afloat

I allow you to consume me in

totality.

And just like the breeze

caressing the damage after a storm

you move on,

even as if nothing happened.

Unaware of

- the havoc you stirred within my now pillaged soul.

Like a survivor

without you

I must continue.

Keep moving forward,

navigating

the desolate path

without you in your own wake.

such a fine weave of your metaphor KW ..i love this ..i love its circular motion .. the complete and total commitment of typhoon and the typooned ...and for me the closing is just genius ... i am spent ..no resistance left i me .. floating there "without you in your own wake." ... best i have read this morning .. wonderful work my friend

it’s true I reckon ...
I loved the simile at the beginning I felt like I was being introduced to this piece in a really cool way, I also love your word choice you used like whip and ravage and its really cool how you paired it with certain words to make your lines in the peom, I thought that was a really cool Idea and it kept it interesting and fun to read, nice job

what a lovely review ... thank you fish X
Ooh, what a brilliant and perfect layered metaphor!! I love the varying aspects of the levels of storms and winds captured in your writing and also can relate so well to these feelings.. that indifferent wind just caressing the aftermath, nonchalant that it had anything to do with creating that trouble.. that is so good! Loved this!
