The Sun Is Someway Wounded

The Sun Is Someway Wounded

A Poem by Karina Longo

All itchy where my hands
Your hands
Their hands can't reach -
Pain where the eyes cannot see
Contradictory paranoid feeling
Judged so strictly.

Cosmic, utopic, beautifully broken -
The Sun is someway wounded,
I know for a fact -
It may shine and irradiate happiness
But what if -
What if it burns
into some kind of orange screaming pain -
Like my brain?

Misjudged as I am
And you are
And they are
Scars at heart and soul -
Bruises inside, failed organism
Never to be noticed while your cheekbones
Are still rosy, sunset-like

They just want to get tanned,
Selfish bronze
Smiling summer
For they can't see
Selfish eyes cannot reach
and stone hearts cannot feel -
Inner pain, always refuted
But remember, warmth always sweats
And weeps.

Fragile symbols of eternity
That time cannot heal -
But I know for a fact
The Sun is someway wounded still.

Apparently I never reviewed this, which is weird, because I definitely meant to. I am terribly easily distracted though, so I guess I cannot be that surprised.

Anywho, my favorite thing about this poem is the multitude of bright colors and beautiful images you portray while never losing track of what is actually a pretty dark tone. Really well done, Karina.

what we dont know dont hurt us yeah?
what ifs are a part of life,...mine anyway.
the pain that you cant see everyday or dont even take notice too..like some sort of leper
some pains that are that deep itch, and the itch that get red from scratching, and then scratching becomes blood
the surface speaks like Lazy Sunbathers by Morrisey, I like what lies under that.
both levels are sweet love making with blisters

This was actually quite good (imagine my surprise!). It’s nice to see you get back into the creative groove with some decent images and euphony. I especially liked this part:

They just want to get tanned,
Selfish bronze
Smiling summer
For they can't see
Selfish eyes cannot reach
and stone hearts cannot feel -
Inner pain, always refuted
But remember, warmth always sweats
And weeps.

I wouldn’t change any part of that stanza. Well done.

Its sad how people take and take and never consider what sacrifices are being made so that they can have what makes them happy. This poem reminds of the feelings that are not felt...not even apathy..simply forgotten about. Why don't we ever give back...

"Pain where the eyes cannot see">This sets up the poem nicely, and I believe the reat of the poem revolves around it.
"art can be whatever you want to take from it!"
This poem is a perfect example of what you said..
It doesn't matter what the reader thinks about the topic, what they see is what it says..your style is unique, and mysterious..this is a perfect example of just that.
I enjoyed reading it, even if what I thought it meant was wrong.
