Your Superman

Your Superman

A Chapter by Gabriel Firebrand
"

I could've been.

"

This story is a follow-up to Rose In My Ear.

"Okay, you've got to stop this."

"Stop what?"

"This, whatever the hell you're doing. It's getting annoying."

My seatmate scolded me.

"What am I doing anyway?"

"Being so emotional. I can't stand you being this depressed."

"Sorry."

She grabbed a pen and paper.

"Here. I'm gonna help you."

"What's this for?"

"Write your feelings down?"

"Are you serious?"

"YES. I'm serious."

I didn't know where to begin. I started of with some random shapes, some weird circles and squares. I basically just turned it into a doodle. Seven minutes later...

"Let me see it."

I hand it to her.

EVEN THOUGH YOU NEVER WANTED TO LET ME GO, YOU THOUGHT IT WAS FOR THE BEST.

Those words were written across the paper. All sorts of shapes and figures were all over the paper. It became some sort of abstract drawing.

"Hey, what's this little S in the corner of the paper?"

Just then, a tear fell from my eye.

I then recall a conversation.

"If you could be one thing for me, what would it be?"

"Your Superman."

My seatmate snapped her fingers in front of me.

"Uh, the S? Nothing. That's nothing."

But I knew she knew EXACTLY what that S meant.

I lowered my head down, as my eyes began to water up.

"There, there. It's okay. You'll be someone else's Superman one day. I guarantee it.", she said while patting me on the back.
