They say a reader lives a thousand lives

 

But don’t they hear a thousand lies?

 

You had to forsook 

 

that beloved book!

 

Attached to far too many people you’ve known

 

and watch as they go through life,

 

And somehow, for a split second,

 

You forget you have your own.

In my younger life, I never read any books becuz I was out doing various adventures like hiking & swimming & biking. I'm really happy for you that you are a book-lover at 14! You'll do well in life. Books are a great teacher of living, not just a great escape (altho we need that quite often these days!) I read a couple books a week now that I'm old, catching up on all that I missed, not being a book reader all those years. Oh, I love this poem a lot, the line that stood out the most to me was "don't you hear a thousand lies" and forgetting about your own life for a second. These lines in particular really struck a chord with me in a good way and gave me inspiration. You can really expand on this idea of getting lost and even coming to having an identity crisis or something. Overall my favorite one

Sometimes life can be so cruel that it becomes more enjoyable to bury our heads in a good book and dwell in a land of fantasy. It's certainly the case for me this year. I think of a certain book here...one people use often in arguments...and use for preaching....
and yet they live their lives like a bad movie version of that book.
and others suffer for that...and get their reading glasses taken away from them.

I saw you're fourteen, but it seriously seems like you have 50 years of writing in your hands. If writing is what you want as a career, you have a serious future!
