When did People Get To Be So Cruel?

When did People Get To Be So Cruel?

A Poem by MusicLove93

Look all those people.

All those people talking.

They don't really know what they're talking about.

All they know is what they heard.

What they heard from the other kids in town.

Nobody knows what's true and what's false.

Nobody cares who's right and who's wrong.

Oh but if you really wanna to know,

sometimes, you need to take a deeper look.

Don't judge a story by the cover of the book.

When did people get to be so cruel?

Don't you know you're just making yourself look a fool?

You know it's bad when gossip becomes the truth.

Why are we so quick to believe a story without any proof?

Look at all those people.

All those people staring.

No one bothers to help the weird girl pick up her books.

Why should they be seen with her?

When they're so aware of how lame it would look?

Everyone knows bout the day she fell.

Or was she pushed? I couldn't tell.

Some kids took her glasses, just playing around.

She fell down the stairs and broke her arm.

They swear they never meant any harm.

When did people get to be so cruel?

Don't you know you're just making yourself look a fool?

You know it's bad when nobody bothers to even care.

If roles were swtiched, wouldn't you want someone to be there?

when i was in school there was a guy who was "mentally retarded." Can you believe they actually overtly stated it as such! He wore metal braces on his legs and was spastic when he walked and could not really speak, it was very slurred and had that tonal quality one associates with such a condition. Just imagine, "Hi Neil, we know you're mentally retarded but could you keep your saliva under control a little better." Inhumane beyond belief. One day i came out of class and found 5 or 6 kids surrounding him and taunting him. Who could attack a helpless disabled kid? I totally lost it and lit out after 5 guys, I wanted to kill them! A bloody nose, torn shirt and bunch of scratches later I helped the disabled guy up off the ground. He says, "You're my friend, I never had a friend before..." Imagine, we were in 5th Grade and he'd never had ONE friend. Kids can be cruel!

Your writing is real and conveys your point very well. I had not thought of that occurance in years, your write brought it back. Quite impacting. Excellent.

People at times lose sense of importance. They go around believing their actions are just and that they are free from justice just because they are this or that or they have parents who are so and so. And plus some people simply do not care how they hurt others. It is all a game to them and they don't care who gets hurt as long as it isn't them.

many times there is a deeper story to one the one being told or to the one that is real. Many times we take things at face value when we should be looking at what lurks beneath the surface.

There's a dark side to nature and it's vivid in the human conceptions and conscience. For a civilization which proclaims to be so far advanced more so than it's evolutionary underlings, we haven't much progressed from the "Weak die, strong survive" motto. It's a hard thing for many people to conceive and accept, but it is part of life. To be cruel and a monstrosity is a part of every human being, although we are not willing to accept it. for example, there's proven factual basis which links sex and violence together, it's a part of our system/way-of-life:

Anyways, do adore this poem... it questions the nature of people and their cruel intent. It's something many thought questioning people can really find interesting. It's certainly well written too ^_^ and entertaining as well thought-provoking read. Also love the moral of the poem, to question yourself when you see wrong done or when your doing something negative towards others.
I would give constructive criticism if it were needed, but as of right now can find nothing wrong.
Overall, really liked this poem, giving it a 98/100.. excellent job.

It would be great if there were more people who were selfless and giving... Sometimes it's insecurity, jealousy, and envy, that are the root cause for such destructive behavior...that is a good question,- "When did people get to be so cruel?"... Great write!

It's was so good thoughts kind of organized I guess but, a good message is sent out through these words as so many people just play around joking and such but, when it turns serious and someone gets hurt where are they. Theirs a time to play and a time to grow up but, when did people get so cruel? Is what you ask but, really someone's always had dark side of them deep inside and some people just don't know how to conceal it. Any ways well done.

I liked the topic. It really captures the harsh realities of gossip and bullying, and the way nobody wants to take responsibility for anything they may do to harm another.

I love this! I am kinda like 'that girl'. People really need to learn how to treat others, try being in someone else's shoes for a day, then they will see it isn't so easy.
