Worded Scars

Worded Scars

A Chapter by Zephyr
"

Verbal scars hurt more than physical ones!

"

I said Yes to Jim well knowing that his business was at a loss.

Also I knew that he had to deal with a slew of court cases.

I vowed to be with him through all ups and downs.

But married life wasn’t at all the perfect utopia I had imagined it to be.

                            …………………………………………………………………….

“What’s wrong with you?” Jim thundered. Back then, his anger only added fuel to my raging fire.

But now as I think about it, I can understand that his anger sprouted from utter disbelief and emotional trauma.

“So now I’m the culprit? Look who is flirting away with another woman!” I shot back.

“You are making things up. Look, I know you are under a lot of stress. But there is a limit to everything. And you have certainly crossed it!”

Disgust was strewn across Jim’s face.

“I crossed the limit, huh? Don’t you have shame to blabber on like that? Enjoying your life while leaving your wife to rot!” I snapped hysterically.

“I know I have failed to give you a good life. The life that you dreamt about living with me. But I will never give up on you. You are what I live for. You are my Love. I can’t imagine a life without you!”Jim tried his best to reason.

“Stop the lecture, Jim. You are not the man I loved.” I broke down.

“And you are not the woman I loved. How can you accuse me of something so vulgar? I love you!” Jim choked out the last few lines interspersed with loads of pain.

“I never should have loved you!” I blabbered like a drama queen.

These worded scars have ripped apart Jim’s heart, which I so badly want to mend back.

                                          ……………………………………………………….

Two days before our marriage, Jim and I were having our sweet little talks watching the buzzing crowd in the Park.

Stroking my hair, Jim said:

“If I ever lose you, consider me dead!”

Back then, I understood it as the sweet little nothings that lovers exchange.

But now as I think about it, a cold chill runs down my spine.

It can’t be true. It shouldn’t be……..

It's so easy to get caught up in verbal warfare. Smoldering in the moment letting venom fly and before you know it's too late. You did a nice job conveying the rage and argumentative nature and I think it's a feeling most will be able to relate to. Great job

Sometimes it happens... The words spoken in anger can never be taken back, and we don't even realize what we say...the time we get realize, its almost too late... great work, Neetha.
If you are gonna write the next chapter, then i'm waiting for it, hahaha.
