Looking for the Perfect Perch

Looking for the Perfect Perch

A Poem by Patricia Wedel
"

Safe from harm on a Branch in a Sycamore tree ...

"
Sycamore trees offer protection from wind and rain

One could stay hidden among the branches...

The perfect hideaway from Bandits that roam about...

Ancient writings have mentioned the privacy afforded.

In a thunderstorm when skies are blue and dark...

Musicians play and Philosophers preach from pulpits in

clouds of wisdom and prophecies where children learn of

mysterious events leading up to the present catastrophes.

Like our feathered friends... we dare to be Brave and Calm...

going about our daily tasks as though we are in the hands of

Destiny and thereby must follow the lead of those who swore

a Hippocratic Oath written by Hippocrates to teach the secrets

of Medicine to the next Generation... that illness has a physical and

rational explanation... and not caused by superstitions and possessions

of evil spirits.  To this Oath we hold fast.  Be brave and safe.

There is a beautiful, huge Sycamore by the courts where we play tennis....and just the other day,
we were all commenting on its size and shape.
something that can protect us?
we need that shelter right now...we need something to guard us from what we are dealing
with...all the sickness and hate spewing out...we need that shelter, that tree, the beauty of this poem.

A write of strength and empowerment in the face of evil. Yes, the branches of the tree shield the birds from harm. We must keep ourselves out of harm's way. A mask, social distancing, and hand washing are our shields. This is one of your best poems, Pat. I enjoyed it. Lydi**

Your sycamores are an earthly beauty. How we need the blessings of nature even more in times of strife. They provide shelter and comfort for hearts in need. We sit and wait. We bide our time and hope that science gives us the vaccine that can give us freedom again. Wonderful poetry dear Pat.
