Sasquatch

Sasquatch

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

He exists...

"

I thought I saw a Sasquatch

He was strolling down my street

He was very large and hairy,

And he had enormous feet

I followed him for fifteen blocks

To get a closer look

With each step of his giant shoes

The concrete pavement shook

Finally he turned around;

He knew he had been followed

His dark brown eyes, they pierced my soul;

In fear, I stared and swallowed

“Just what is it you want from me,

a lonely, humble yeti?”

I dropped my gaze, I felt such guilt;

I knew my thoughts were petty

“I didn’t think that you were real,”

I started to explain

He roared with laughter, “Oh thank God!”

I thought he was insane

“I’m used to curiosity,

endured it all my life

I just thought you were spying

for my beast of an ex-wife!”

Thanks - glad to give a giggle! I changed that last line - she's a "beast of an ex-wife" now. :)
I guess even fantastical creatures have marrige issues :) funny poem, i wondered where it was going.

Going by your comment at the bottom, I feel like by giving the sasquatch a human problem you are making Him more real for the reader. Or at least declaring your belief in the sasquatch.

Good fun words Rita.

Well, I believe that some people believe... and if he exists, he might just have similar problems. :.. read more
i believe you....i figure he very likely exists...but people are scared to believe what they can't understand, or what is not normal...

so there will be skepticism....i like the humorous twist in this.

We have "Champ", a mysterious sea creature that supposedly swims (usually undetected) in the waters of Lake Champlain. Your writing was whimsical and sweet. Thanks for making me smile. :)
