Grasping Twilight

Grasping Twilight

A Poem by Rita L. Sev
"

***

"

This morning I was six years old,

       to misery immune

but as each moment came to pass,

       I’d grown by afternoon

now as dusk descends her veil

       I day-dream in the twilight,

while grasping sun and clouds

and stars…

       how old I’ll be tonight

Thank you so much, Carl.
So much contained in these few lines and there are times when I would be a child again; but heart and mind will remain ever young if we understand it is the mirror that lies.

With each passing moment we grow wiser… in our youth every moment comes quickly and can often be overwhelming. Great work again Rita

You are welcome.
Grasping Twilight is a perfect title for this little, but brilliant gem. It says so much about how we look at things, how time and thoughts move and ultimately how we learn what truly matters as we grow and lean into life..and how to savor the wonder in the movement of it all.

Thank you so much. Ladysue - yes, we try to grab on, to hold it for just a little bit...
Your poem is a beautiful expressed the phenomenon of ephemerality. I was inspired to write this gift poem for you:

Ephemeral

A drop of rain,
a youthful kiss
flows down the drain
to the abyss.

Thank you, Norah. :)
I'm quite familiar with this journey...it mirrors the fleeting pace of childhood, though we don't realize how fleeting it was till we get to the seemingly endless trudge of adulthood, capped off by that palpable sense of aging...you've said, and lived, so much in so few words here...great work Rita, love this one.
