A Chapter by Taemint

Aspen

The freshly made coffee that I had bought at the cafe was now on the ground, a brown, sweet smelling puddle in front of me .

I slowly looked up at the office ladies. No. It couldn't be true. That was impossible. Something like this couldn't just happen overnight. He would have told me. I blinked. It was so ironic how things in life turned out. One moment you were happy and then in the next you felt like your life was over.

I just smiled, refusing to believe what I had just been told. There it went. The perfect life that I had always envisioned was thrown out of the window and into the trash. Suddenly the smell of the coffee in front of me was too much. Nothing made sense in my head and my senses were going over drive. The note in my hand slowly slipped from my cold, clammy fingers and fell into the brown liquid on the floor.

The last thing I remember is fading lights, shouts coming from all around me, the soaked piece of paper, and his last words.

"Im sorry."
