Beep beep beep.
I rustled in my bed and covered my ears. I was having such a good dream. As weird and boring as this sounds, it was about being with Caleb. Nothing more. Nothing less. I want to escape to that dream again.
Beep beep beep...!
This damn alarm is terrible. It just gets louder and louder and louder. I wish I knew that before I bought it. I would not get annoyed at such an early time in the morning.
Beep beep beep!!
"I heard you! Just shut up!" I slammed my hand on top of the clock, hoping that I managed to turn off the alarm in the process. Reluctantly, I got out of bed and smiled to myself as my room was silent. A tiny little victory for such an early morning is good too. Then, as I left my huge and oddly tidy room. You know how guys normally have messy areas? Well, I was the opposite. I couldn't help but keep my room clean. Most of my friends teased me for it.
I made my way to the bathroom to take a quick shower. I was too lazy to take one last night. My hands made their way through my blond hair that naturally spiked up. It looked cool all the time, whether I woke up or just got done running a marathon. Ah, the perks of having short hair that took little to no maintenance.
"Well, I guess a bowling sweatshirt and dark blue jeans it is." Then, I jumped down the stairs making a bunch of noise, no one was home anyway. My parents have been gone for a while due to a huge photography thing. I'm not too up to date on the details but I really don't care. The only one here besides myself was my German shepherd, Apollo. He was asleep though, he couldn't wake up even if an object from space crashed through the house.
My house, which was huge but strangely cozy with plush couches and expensive knickknacks, started to repeat the sounds I was making. The clanking sound of dog food hitting the bottom of a metal bowl. The pop of the toaster and the sizzle of eggs. Then, the sound of car keys jingling as the front door slammed shut. I hate my house. It's always too quiet and unsettling.
Ping! Message!
" Ah... Who could it be?" I couldn't help but smile as I got out my phone, I knew who it was. Caleb, probably complaining about me running late. I normally didn't run late but when I did, Caleb was there to tease me about it because I hated being late. There was no point in checking the message though, if I already know what is says.
I got into my green cavalier and sat there for a bit. Hilarious right? My best friend's last name was Greene and I have a green car. Caleb always told me that it meant that the car was his. Anyway.. My parents were coming home today. Why today? Why couldn't they stay away? They are so troublesome... Once they get home, they'll find some reason to yell at me. Then, they'll ignore me or they will pester me, ask me if I'm still going through a "phase" and then disregard me if they haven't already started. What fun!

"Don't you understand?! That new chapter was so boring! I don't want to even read the next one," Caleb said as we walked through the halls of prison, also known as hell, which is also known as high school. God, I hate it here.
"Well... I haven't read the new chapter of Black Butler so I don't know what you're talking about. I'm still going to read it. There's no point in stopping right in the middle of it unless you're reading One Piece or Bleach or Fairy Tail. Those 3 manga's need to stop coming up with chapters. Nothing new happens." I grabbed my history and English text book then slammed my locker. You weren't supposed to do that but it doesn't really matter. No one gets in trouble.
"You can't stop Fairy Tail! It's a beautiful master piece."
"Um, Caleb? Nothing new happens. Erza or Natsu always win the battle, Lucy is useless, and Happy the annoying, blue, flying cat is still disrespectful. Everything is the same."
Caleb put his hand on my shoulder and shook his head in dismay. "Leo, Leo, Leo... How could you? I don't think we can be friends anymore."
"You said that last week when I complained about Inu x Boku SS. No matter what, you will remain my best friend. Just accept it and move on." I swatted his hand away and pointed forward. He wouldn't stop being my friend. It's a fact, not some hope-filled sentence.
Caleb and I met ages ago. We were in first grade, I moved from North Carolina to Idaho due to my parents wanting to be closer to family members, and I was terrified. I am naturally self conscious and I hate socializing. It's not really my forte, so I was all alone and didn't eat, talk, or play with anyone. I preferred to do everything solo but Caleb Greene, all dark brown hair and sapphire eyes, came up to me and everything changed. I had gained a friend.
I was reluctant at first, because no one had bothered to talk to me for 2 months, but I ended up warming up to him. Caleb was kind and sweet like candy. He apologized for not talking to me sooner. His excuse was priceless.
"I'm sorry for not talking to you sooner. Its just... You looked kind of scary. You also reminded me of one of the princes' from my sister's fairy tales!"
"How am I like a prince?!" I couldn't help but feel offended.
"Well you have golden hair, freckles across the top of your cheeks and on your nose, and green eyes. Not a lot of people look like that. Hey! I forgot to ask you your name," said Caleb. By this time I stopped coloring and started staring at him. He was a little too enthusiastic to be talking to me because I wasn't really doing anything. I wasn't even interesting but hey, no point in not talking.
"M-my name is Leon Iverson," I stammered. No one had talked to me in ages. I was used to being by myself but now this one kid came along and started talking to me. I was terrified. "You never told me yours."
"Oh! I forgot! I can't believe I did that. Can you? Normally I'm so good at this stuff but not today! Ha-ha! I'm Caleb Greene," once he said his name, his hand grabbed mine. Jeez, his handshakes are wild. "It's very nice to meet you!" With that, Caleb was gone.
Day after day Caleb would start coming to me and talking. He wouldn't stop even if I ignored him. About a month later though, I gave in and started talking to him and soon became is best friend. After our interesting encounter, Caleb and I were inseparable. Always doing sports and outside activities together. The older we got and the more things we both discovered, the closer we came together. What was that saying? Ah, I remember...
We are two peas in a pod.
