I can't help myself

I can't help myself

A Chapter by Lyn Anderson
"

sometimes I just do

"
I admit it,
sometimes I do it --
I might watch a movie
by Woody
or Mel,
or enjoy a flick
featuring Angelina Jolie.

I shouldn't,
but I do,
even though
their personalities
and politics I abhor,
and their egos
are a chore
to ignore.

I admit it,
sometimes
I give you
a real
review.

I personally work at my reviews, which is why some people don't like it when I offer corrections or suggestions, and why I appreciate those who do too, but some do not, and this is my take on that ...

You always give me a real review and I appreciate you greatly. You are probably my favorite on here and I always do what I can to take time to read and review your work.

Also, I agree with Jack. The separation of the art from the person. Brilliant, KL!! xo :)

Thanks so much, I appreciate that.
Which Mel were you referring to? This was another great one from your pen KLGoode. I am happy I found this today.

Oh, sorry, your superior sarcasm ability went over my head. :)

Then you must have been lying flat on the ground. My sarcasm has no lift off at all. :)
Oh yes, you do. So I set aside some time to come in, read your work and comment.
The very first poem I read just now says it like it should be said. Reviewing is an important aspect of writing and If we don't review a writers work, things might just go downhill rapidly.

I notice you have a sharp eye for detail which I guess comes from your career as a journalist and editor.

I like this Poem. Good luck on your publishing venture.

i like this...the idea of separating the art from the person and politics...can we do it?

perhaps, perhaps not.

as for critiquing...if i see obvious things that can be improved, i will suggest...but we are all different type writers...so mostly i just let my reactions to the works take over...how i relate to them.

perhaps my reviews are useless, who knows.

I appreciate you in more than one way. However; you are reading some of my older sucky poems and you don't have any constructive criticism? lol I feel bad because when I visit the cafe it's to wind down. My mood is usually the farthest thing from serious. It's hard for me to grind down and critique everybody's work...I just want to relax and be my dorky self. Thank you for tolerating me. mwah
