(hope you can see what i see)

bleeds glorious rich colour
in death's defiance

The meaning I get from this one is that beauty persists even in the midst of apparent death. Also, we might also see it as illustrating that the last stage of life can be the most beautiful. I tell myself something similar with each new white hair in my beard.

A beautiful haiku. An idea, such as the one of defiance, transcends death. Inspiring!

Nice, vivid image and a meaningful message all wrapped in a concise little poem. It reminds me of an essay by Diane Ackerman titled, "Why Leaves Turn Color in the Fall".

Bagging, bagging seemingly tons of fallen leaves. It is such a chore, yet today, like you, I couldn't help but see just how beautiful they are even though they are dead. Thank you Chris.

Take care of yourself - Dave

I certainly hope "red is dead" in this election... but just my opinion.

This is a beautiful haiku, and the ambiguity and symbolism makes it fun to interpret for different readers. :)

there are lessons in nature for us. we are inextricably linked with it. the leaves die in a blaze of glory, should we not be like them, making the most of what we have. not even death can take away what was lived. this packs quite a powerful punch. beautiful chris. a little different than i'm used to from you ... :)

am reminded of, “Even trees do not die without a groan.” - Thoreau
