Through the mists I hear

Through the mists I hear

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(mum)

"
search for me in rainbows
in the ebb and flow of the sea

in the sparkle of the morning dew
or the flight of a honey bee

see me on the fragile wings
of a garden butterfly

or hear me carried on the wind
in a gentle reassuring breeze

and know that all I meant to you
is timeless like the stars at night

the bond of love we had and shared
is diamond in its purity

parting but a sorrow bared
maternal love will never die

Although on a very late lunch break .. these words moved me greatly .. and I fear the need to compose myself before the hour is up .. I wonder whether the fact I still find my self calling out 'Mum' occasionally has anything to do with it .. or just an excuse ........... Neville

You're welcome my dear Chris
Wow! What a beautifully written poem, I absolutely loved it. I know this is about maternal love, but your poem resonated with me for different reasons. My mother is thankfully still very much alive but I lost my father to cancer last year...he was 72. Reading your amazing poem made me think of him.

Lovely poem, dear Chris, about a mother's love. No matter what we do, our mother's will always love us. At least that is what my mother always told me. I enjoyed reading this very much. Thank you, Temp

dearest Chris… Mother’s love is infinite and I feel her Presence more and more … especially when I touch the Petals of a 🌹 Rose. Poetry is a language for Spirits to blend in Rainbow 🌈 colors of a Heart 💜 that remembers a Mother’s tender touch. tenderly, Pat

‘Maternal love will never die’. These words are passionate and move the reader greatly. It feels fragile as the butterfly’s wings but just as strong. ‘And know that all I meant to you, is timeless like the stars at night’. The love, the time that must have inspired this piece feels galactic, it feels huge. The visuals are glorious and bright and breathtaking in such an awe inspiring way. Thank you for sharing.

Those fragile wings are so lovely to see, especially when we think of what a butterfly began as. Honeybees? Yes, loved working with them some years ago. So good to read what you say of maternal love. Love, generally, too. We can feel the softness yet strength of wings when we hold emotions, express them or suppress them. Nice piece, Chris. Thanks.
