Through the mists I hear

Through the mists I hear

A Poem by Chris Shaw
"

(mum)

"
search for me in rainbows
in the ebb and flow of the sea

in the sparkle of the morning dew
or the flight of a honey bee

see me on the fragile wings
of a garden butterfly

or hear me carried on the wind
in a gentle reassuring breeze

and know that all I meant to you
is timeless like the stars at night

the bond of love we had and shared
is diamond in its purity

parting but a sorrow bared
maternal love will never die

Although on a very late lunch break .. these words moved me greatly .. and I fear the need to compose myself before the hour is up .. I wonder whether the fact I still find my self calling out 'Mum' occasionally has anything to do with it .. or just an excuse ........... Neville

Chris - the love you shared must have been beautiful. You did such a beauteous way of expressing it here.
I too remember the beautiful rainbows she created over our years together. I recall also the storms she had the patience to see me through. Thank you Chris for stirring the memories.
Take care - Dave

Soft, sweet, sad, and like the fog, Misty. Read it twice, I did. :)

I can remember funny things my mother did and often-times things I see or hear remind me of her. Your poem is beautiful and flows with ease, Chris.
Great job. You're bringing back good memories to those who've lost their mothers. I'm sure yours is watching over you. :)

I needed a gentle breeze. This poem felt gentle too. Did you get stung by a bee recently? The bumbles seem to be buzzing your songs.

Beautiful images abound in this elegiac offering. The things most real, like love, never die, but only change form.
