This is a previous version of The wandering boy.

That day in an Ice cream parlor

I saw a boy peeping from the little window,

A man drove him out.

He then disappeared.

The next day I found him nearby the road.

Gazing at the children going to school.

He wore shabby clothes,

But he again ran in despair.

At night, I found him lying on the pavement.

He murmured the only words:

‘’ Why they drove me out?

I want clean clothes to go to school.”

If you could answer his questions?

Slap on humanity!

Subtle but it certainly makes its point...a biting piece of social commentary that any sensible person would agree with.

That is the cold hard truth. And they say they future is in the hands of our youth. It makes you wonder what this little boy will think grow up to be and what his thoughts on society will be.. very well written. Thank you for bring light on a dark subject.

It is so touching, specially when you imagine a little kid being driven due to shabby clothes. It is a good poem, with a message. I like the way you have portrayed the child. Ice-cream and school are two most important things for a small kid. It is visible that he is not annoyed or sad if he has to sleep on the pavement, but he is bothered about the school. It is really a slap on humanity. Thanks for sharing such a great message, bluntly and honestly. All the best. :)

This boy lives in every land and everyday is joined by many others that speak a myriad of different languages all speaking about and wanting the same things; life, liberty, and the opportunity to live life as God intended!

I loved the message you are portraying with this poem. Simple and to the point, it held my attention until the end. Sadly, I cannot answer his question, but it is something to think about. Nice job. :)
