the nonsensical logic of being

the nonsensical logic of being

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the nonsensical logic of being

in the modern mist

of Monday mornings,

weeks woven of sameness saturate

like a damming rain

another seven days of dictated drear

as we traipse against another adverse year

and children plead,

homeless need

rhetoric rather than succeed

suffices

and we go home hungry for sustenance

with acceptance

of the morsels tossed in trivial ranking

among our murmurs of thanking

and change hides again in surreptitious shadows

while we coagulate in coerced communes

allowing the days to deliver a dowry

of what we deserve

for the inaction

repetitious traction

in our own catastrophic conundrum

of casual commiseration

Is that all there is? Monday mornings bring that feeling of ennui to the forefront. So philosophical, Jacob. Do our days deliver a dowry? Only if we push them to.....only if we continue to continue. I noticed you have changed your quote and your icon. Change is a good thing. Lydi**

There is something more than just a tad existential about these words of yours jacob. Sartre would indeed be proud of ya, as indeed am I.....and who in their right mind is gonna argue with that title eh'.........N

Not a cynical interpretation of life; rather, profound disappointment at the repetitive state of non-living
everyday life can reach.
Elegant and penetrating!

you are very much welcome
Simply beautiful this is. Filled with self reflexivity without being mopey or excessively critical, this poem summarizes the state we are in. Pure bliss to read your writing!
