Chapter 2

Chapter 2

A Chapter by Lilia

It took about fifteen minutes to walk to the school, which was a-ok with me. I got to cherish the time in my day-dreams. We wandered down the dirt path to the school, and Katherine groaned, grabbing at his forehead in pain.

“There are too many thoughts...People need to just stop thinking.” He chuckled through his wince, and I rolled my eyes.

Silhouette bit his lip as we entered, dodging the passerby. Katherine, on the other hand, pushed his way through, like one of the old plows we had before the New Age.  He made his way through, as though nothing mattered. Talents and half-breeds alike growled and hissed at the ignorant boy.

This was the school I´d been attending, since I first awoke. My talent, regeneration, grew stronger throughout these days.  I cherished these memories, as we swept through the hall and made our way to headmaster Diane´s office.

¨Yo, Ma.¨ Katherine threw the door open, never once asking if he could intrude her living space.

¨Yes, Katherine?¨ The black haired woman was hunched over behind her desk, back facing us.

¨Candy is here. For team applications.¨ Katherine explained for me, despite the fact he probably knew I wanted to do it myself.

For that, he earned a elbow to the side.

He dodged this, however, and chuckled.

¨Can still read minds, Candy.¨

Silhouette rolled his eyes, and smiled as Headmistress Diane turned to face us. ¨Ah Miss Dance! Please, give me a moment.¨

She shuffled to the other side of the room and began to weave through many papers stacked one on top of the other. We sat in silence, and I couldn't help but laugh when she climbed atop the counter to reach the applications.

¨Candy says you look pretty ridiculous when you climb on the counter Mom.¨

¨I did not!¨

We both recieved a sound clapping on the back of the head, from my lovely brother Silhouette.

Katherine groaned and grumbled as Diane made her way over, and slammed a stack of papers against her desk, making her gigantic son leap.

¨Be ni-¨
¨Shut. The f**k. Up.¨ Smiled Silhouette, and he received a stern look from Diane.

I took the papers and smiled, ¨Thank you, Headmistress.¨ I nodded as I reached into my pocket for something to write with.

¨Oh. No darling. Katherine already filled those out for you. That top page is yours.¨

I looked at Katherine, rolled my eyes, and then started reading the page.

¨Yada yada, if you die yada yada- Team Slate?¨

Katherine furrowed his eyebrows, ¨Whatdaya know. You´re on Silhouette´s team after all.¨

I squealed giddily, and hugged my brother. The name was pretty weird, I had to admit that, but this was still so friggin sweet! “I can’t wait.” I gushed and he laughed.

Little did I know- I’d regret those words sooner than later.

Room 204. I was here, in the team mission room- and nobody but Silhouette and I had showed up. I found my brother pacing the room up and down, mumbling something about how they could’ve been here ten minutes ago.

“Sil’ chill. They’ll be here soon.” I tried to assure him, but he paid no heed to my words.

“You sign up- so you should be capable of arriving on ti-” He was cut off with the loud crashing sound the door made when it hit the wall.

“Yay! New team this year!” Giggled a high pitched voice, that I found strangely familiar. I turned around to view the familiar voice and long pink curls were brought to my attention, chocolate skin, and-

“Silhouette! Hi!” The girl giggled, her brown eyes glimmering in the light.

Silhouette’s face held a look of disdain, and he sighed very loudly, “Hello, Darkness.”

She beamed, ignorant to the look he gave her and turned to face me.

“Candy? Is that you?! It’s been ages!” She chuckled and bounced over to my seat, pinching my cheeks.

I furrowed my brows, both in pain and thought.

“Don’t you remember me? And Silence? We got you out of the egg thing-y?”

OH. That´s how I remembered the voice, but...¨Wasn´t your hair black?¨

¨Dyed it. When your father is a politician you get some good links!¨ She grinned at her clever explanation, before turning away.

¨Where did Silence go? Is he not on the same team as me?¨ She began to pout, her eyes drooping with her mouth like a dog´s would.

Upon this pout, sauntered in a blonde boy. Silence. I could tell- since Darkness began her irritable giggle.

¨Silence!¨

The boy huffed and looked around, smoke spewing from his nose and wings flapping behind him.

A half-breed.

I couldn't help but giggle as well, excitement flowing through me.

¨Don´t be that way- say hi!¨ Darkness beamed, and the half-breed glowered, the scales under his eyes creating embers.

“Quiet type?” I asked aloud, to which Silhouette shook his head, “Silence, is a dragon half-breed. Very rare. He can’t speak well, due to a flame gland in his throat.”

“Cool! So he spews fire?! He melted the egg?”

The boy himself nodded, and rolled his eyes as Darkness looped her arms ‘round his waist.

“He’s the best!” Darkness grinned.

Silence’s face looked very irritable, and I couldn’t help but laugh.

A long slender leg entered the doorway, and red hair followed suit, her black heels clacking.

“Silly? Thank goodness.” Her voice was high, and a little snarky.

“Hey, Illumination!” Silhouette’s face instantly flushed, and his hand ran to the back of his neck.

From what I could view, she had an attractive figure, and green was her color. She had braided her long hair down her back, and my brother had a thing for her.

My eyebrows rose, and my brother's gaze met mine. He cleared his throat, and he pointed her to the table, ¨Have a seat.”

The girl turned to face the table, and gave a me a wicked sneer before sitting down beside me and crossing her legs.

Silhouette looked at his list, and groaned, ¨We have three more people.¨

We sat in utter silence, and then the door thudded open, along with two males, and a very tall brutish looking girl.

¨Yes, Candy- I believe she is brutish too.¨ Came Katherine´s voice from the pile of boys and I squealed giddily, skipping over to him.

¨Kathy!” I went to help him and his fellow, but he stood up, ditching the way shorter boy on the ground.

¨Myra.¨ Said the girl, who stormed over to the table. Not bothering to not step on the boy who lay face-down on the ground.

He looked up, finally, and his face was a burning red color as he groaned in pain, ¨I-I´m so so sorry I´m late. My name is-¨

Katherine stifled a laugh, ¨Sweetness, yes, we met.¨

Giggles and snorts went about, and I glowered at Katherine, ¨Don't be mean, Katherine.¨

Sweetness shook some shaggy brown hair out of his adorable little blue eyes and smiled gratefully at me.

¨What´s your name??¨

Katherine frowned at the boy, and looped an extremely long arm around me and pulled me close, to which Sweetness´s look went awkward almost.

¨Her name is Candy, Sweetness.¨ He said his name like it was venom and I shoved him away.

¨Nice to meet you.¨ I beamed and extended a hand, ¨Welcome to team Slate.¨

Sweetness smiled and took my hand, ¨Thanks.¨
