This Minute is All

This Minute is All

A Poem by Louisa Chan
"

A peaceful scene after a rainstorm

"

The rain has ceased.

The wind has receded.

The sun has had its retreat.

Tall trees having calmed their agitation are smiling warm

Standing strong like a faithful friend

Raindrop crystals find comfort on windowpanes

Leaning tight is their hopeful form

The coffee in front keeps me warm

Keeps me bathing in your sweetest song

Drowning in your mellow form

This peace after a storm is a lover’s song;

This minute caressing me is lasting long…

Don't we just love those moments after the storm?
I really like the personification in this...
Nature becomes human, humans become one with nature...
she has a very strong affect on romantic feelings...
I find comfort in the rain because I feel it is the tears I am unable to shed.

Wonderful imagery of the intense beauty and peacefulness that follows a storm, Louisa! It put me right into the moment. Your last line, “This minute caressing me is lasting long…” is inspired!

What a lovely thought!
I enjoyed reading your poem and it echoed in me those lasting moments of joy and bliss that make life worth living, no matter what the weather. I am reminded of this poem: I hope you won't mind my offering it as part of my review.

The Rainy Day by
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary
