Words for life

A Poem by Sami Khalil

Words for life                 by Sami Khalil

An English Sonnet...

Be crowned and loneliness follows your name

Shine on and shadows shall escort spotlights

For heavy is the head that lays the claim

Wears the bejeweled crown high as fickle kites.

You’ve got to know the lows before the heights

Hunt not disgraces, being a ‘Monster’

Foolish words and actions compel last rites

So, grasp wisdom, justice…goodness foster.

No pain, no gain, wielding the worst to best

Rewards are granted to the risks needed

And when heeded, they seem subtle sans jest

Ferrying success to docks repeated.

Those who go in circles proceed nowhere

For there is a thrill in the hunt…take care?!

Your pen is never mightier than a sword because you don't need one, Sami. You use words so kindly, saying what you think but courageously. Not seek others' ground but holding your own. Gentleness and gifting is far better than harshness and taking. And that is not only for self for those standing by wondering what will happen next. Peace in our time, methinks, sir!

Indeed so, a little humility and compassion makes a soul so much more wealthy and happy than all the world's money ever could, a wonderfully penned stellar sonnet brimming with wisdom in fine, flowing rhyme and verse! 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞

OMG! Thank you so much dear poet and friend for this wonderful review and wise sharing. Glad to see.. read more
sound advice contained herein although easier said than done. if we wear our successes and flaunt them it will push people away - modesty is the order of that day. we are undeserving and receive blessings from above. not doing what is right creates our own plight. outward rewards are temporary and fleeting, we receive in accordance with what is given. doing what is right is its own reward. be grounded with what we have rather than always searching for more. know where we came from and where we hope to go.
