Shadows Dance

Shadows Dance

A Chapter by Norma M Sutton

Shadows dance on a rainy night
Flickers of you and me
In the canopy above

Shadows dance aloft
Lit from below
A earthly beam shines low

Shadows dance among the leaves
Hands a moving show
Up and down with rhythm they go

Shadows dance the dinner show
Hands seek to give relief
Steady strong and slow

Shadows danced this rainy night
Hands move in milky gloom
Lit from flashlights glow

Shadows dance up above
Udder's full laden glow
Streaming song into the night

A milking we do go

Author's Note

Norma M Sutton
Nothing serious about this bit. I milk by flashlight the nights the moon isn't shining. Tonight I noticed our shadows reflecting down from the tree canopy. I only see that in the summer when the leaves are on the trees above. Most nights I see the star lit sky peeking through.

This reminds me of a children's song - I was sing-songing in my head while reading. Lovely!

I like this, the very song-like feeling, the pushing of the verb in the title to the end of the title gives it a rural, kind of medieval touch, I can imagine this being sung in a marketplace in 1400, good work.

I liked it... just some simple fun.
