Fate or Destiny?

Fate or Destiny?

A Poem by Michael Thrower
"

A poem that goes along with my opening: Green. It's also based on the story of Jonnathan Quill, so far mentioned in First Scene: Grimoire. Thanks :D

"

Bound by soul and weak by flesh

No more alive, I'm lifeless

My skin has rotten, I am undead

Green flames in my soul, my flesh I have shed.

A curse to my body, but this must be

I learned the grimoire and set the world free

I have paid a heavy price

Yet my soul burns with life

I am the color of green

It runs me like gasoline

I pray someday to be set free

From this hellish bind that enslaves me

Why did I do this?

To help mankind?

No, it was power

Unholy divine.

I was corrupted and consumed by the magic

But a light still shines in places ever so tragic

I had no hope of ever returning

Yet I found a way

A treacherous monster

That I must slay.

Learning to control this dark power

I sought out the Sword of a coward

He tried to defeat me in battle

I destroyed the grimoire

The Sword was shattered.

Still today I do not rest

I wait for my end

The final test.

This poem was kind of put together off the top of my head. I haven't been writing much lately besides a few stories for my gaming group (Yes, I play D&D.) The story goes along with my opening "Green". I will soon be posting a short story of it on here, so all opinions and even ideas are welcome!

Ahhh I reviewed the stories before this and asked for more, then looked at your works and saw this and I was like, "Behold! The next part!" So I'm happy now. The only part I didn't like was, "But a light still shines in places ever so tragic," because I think the word "ever" could go away.

Really enjoyed reading this, it's deep. I think I'm going to go read Green now.
