A Chapter by Carolyn

“Thank you Principal Monroe.” My Mum said concerned. “We’ll make sure she straightens up.” Said Dad whilst frowning. I swallowed a huge lump back into my throat. “We’ve had enough of your antics Sapphire.” My Dad bellowed, “Internal suspension, imagine what this will do to your reputation.” My mum stressed. I rolled my eyes, I mean it’s not like I put a stink bomb in Ruby’s bag. “Are you listening to us Sapphire!?” My dad grumbled, “Yes dad.” I replied annoyed. We pulled up in the drive-way and I went straight to my room before they had a chance to scream at me. I locked my door, “Finally, now where’s that prank book mum got me for Christmas?” I said to myself not dazed by the past events. “Sapphire Jane open this door!” Dad pounded on the door, I pondered on this demand and came up with an answer, “No!” I shouted back. I heard Dad swear under his breath. “Well clean up that pig sty of yours and don’t forget to pick up Jamie from school!”  Dad said. “What! Why can’t Rubes do it?!” Dad knocked on the door and for a second I thought it would come off its hinges. “Fine.” I mumbled, I looked around at my room. It’s not that dirty I thought. I flopped onto my bed and was brought out of my daydream by the vibration under my mattress, I grabbed my phone. “Hey Skull!” I greeted cheerfully. “Hey Bluey, what happened to you today?” Straight to the point, that’s my boyfriend. “Internal suspension,” I rolled my eyes once more. “How are your folks taking it?” He asked sympathetically. “You know…terrible.” I replied, “Hey why don’t we go to the skate park to cheer you up?” His voice broke. “Can’t grounded.” I said, “So your saying I walked all that way for nothing?” He asked, “What?” I asked confused. “Look out the window,” I turned and unlocked the window. “Hey Blue!” Skull shouted waving. I smiled “Lets go!” I said whilst jumping out with skateboard.
We walked through the park, the street lamps lit and the crickets chirping. “Thanks Skull,” I said gaining speed on my skate board.
