Flames

Flames

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Flames,

softly dance,

keeping time with our shadows.

Your touch softer still,

than your whispers to my heart.

Mornings come and go,

the good mingled with the not.

But the keeper of the flame,

erases, all, but,

the embrace of our love.

Such a beautiful, heart-filling picture you've selected, Cherrie🥂

I love romantic poems -- especially, those that metaphorically speak to the core of sensual desire and tenderness of the heart.
Yes … like the fireplace flame, once lovemaking is sated to a flicker, the enfolding caress of memory's warm afterglow burns eternally.

Love it, Cherrie ⁓ Richard 🍃

Lovely little poem. I can feel the flames of passion in this piece. The more you read it, the warmer our heart becomes.

Thank you Danny:)
Am reading the layers within, of hope within the struggle that life can become in normal circumstances, never mind the here and now, as the flame brightens, dwindles, splutters and coughs, but doesn't go out.
Through thick and thin, it still gives light and warmth, even in these darkest of days.

I completely missed your review and I agree that time can dilute the flame if we aren't careful

That was a close call. :)
the flame burns with passion....but after the passion the real love is evidenced by the warmth that still exists, when hearts intertwine...

beautifully written, short piece, Cherrie.
