A Chapter by Dave "Doc" Rogers
"

What? Me worry....

"

"Okay. I don't get it." Self proclaimed ignorance now vented ... sort of.

Sane people wake up one morning, goes through their routine, read the paper on the bus or train or in the office before the action starts then it hits them. Hmmm. Public office. Why would they do this to themselves?

Is it me just restating the obvious? Who in their right or left mind would do something as foolhardy as run for public office then stay there once elected? There has to be a psychosis involved somewhere.

I finished writing an essay on Washington politicking earlier today. It is some crazy business. What I truly don't get is why sane people go do what it is they do for a country / government that really doesn't care for them? Even more of a puzzle is the number of people ... sane, maybe sane, insane ... that elect and let go. It's like 'catch 'n release' on fish in some lakes. As far as I can tell, the only accountability seems to be every two years where if your marketeering is better you win. Not much there.

I am disappointed in the governed not governing the governors.

That means ... why isn't anyone holding accountable the men and women sent to Washington DC to represent us. I haven't heard from them since the last election. Why is that? No wonder these formerly sane individuals do not feel any need to respond to us mere citizens, we have never required it.

Sad actually. Tea anyone?

230+ years ago some British colonials blamed the indigenous people of Massachusetts for dumping imported tea into the harbor. It wasn't really likely. The 'indians' of America really weren't into sipping tea. These 'indians' were protesting taxation without representation and stamp acts.

Gotta run. It still doesn't make sense but I need to sleep.

Cheers!

It's funny because I have been thinking along the same lines lately. My mom and I were talking about Washington and the politicians there. She made a comment about how the whole system works, allowing the people to keep our government from taking total power, or making very bad decisions that could ruin our country. And I was thinking, "When is that last time we as a nation ever united against a horribly wrong decision our politicians made or were making? Why do we read the paper or magazine or watch the news, grumble and argue vehemently amongst ourselves, then go about as if it doesn't really matter anyway? What will it take to mobilize us once again into a nation governed by its people, not by that select group in Washington?
