Do dogs go to heaven

Do dogs go to heaven

A Poem by Gee
"

A family member gone :(

"
An empty bed
a bowl not filled
and aching hearts
now his is stilled...

Author's Note

Gee
Jake was a 5th Christmas present for my daughter who is now nearing her 21st birthday.
I cradled him as his wee heart stilled. Miss him terribly. The pup, Max, now wears his collar in his honour.

This poem was short and wonderful. It reminded me of my dear sweet little Biskit, a tan Apso Lasso, who died two years ago. I still have an effervescent terrier by the name of Baxter, who sleeps now on a soft orange blanket at the foot of my bed, waiting for me to finish writing so I will get up and let him outside, where he can bark good morning to the neighborhood.

Our fury friends give us comfort and never judge us. They are part of the family and it is never easy when their time on earth comes to and end.

I have a cat that I am very attached to. It's going to be brutal when the time comes.

Yes, they do go to heaven, where else could they go.

Almost twenty years ago now, but I remember as clear as day how my sister and I cried when we lost our beloved Collie/Springer Spaniel cross Penny. She came in to the family when I was nine and gave us joy for almost 14 years; wish it had been forever.

A beautiful tribute Gee, that brought back some wonderful childhood memories. Charlie and I have our own lovely little pet now, Holly, again a Collie/Spaniel cross, She's 4 in November and the most loving little thing.

Beccy.

Thank you for confusing me
Having myself held a pet at the very end, I can identify with this one. They might not be human, but they surely are family members.

Very hard. Thank you Jacob, hope you are well
Oh yes. We know they do dear Gee. Sweet Jake is there now running and playing happily with the other pups and watching over his beloved family until he will be reunited with them again. I am so sorry for your sadness and your daughter and family’s sadness, as expressed in your beautiful and true poem. “There is an empty bed”- yes, but his love for you is still in it. Ask Max, I’m sure he sees it and carries it with him too. Good luck and love with that new little pup my friend.

Aw Gee. So sad is this little tribute to Jake, your much loved pet. After nearly sixteen years how greatly his passing must be felt by your daughter and the rest of you. Our pets are family and they are deeply missed when they leave us. Do dogs go to heaven? Of course they do. My Dad told me that when I was seven and our border collie Simon who was only a puppy died. My Dad would never have told me a lie. So sorry for your sad news.
